As a Birmingham group, we have come every year since the second playing of the golf Classic , bringing from 1 to 6 teams. Always a nice drinks reception on the Sunday evening to launch the week. Great courses, all challenging- the card wrecking 18th at Waterford, the magnificent sea view from Dunmore East, the wide rolling fairways of Waterford Castle, mature setting of Faithlegg with Tramore the favourite of the group.
Golf done, a ration of Guinness before dinner. Strand Inn always Top of the Pops, great steaks and hospitality from Sharon and the the Haven crew, great fish from Joan at the Lemon Tree, the Americans love the Italian cooking at the Azzurro, with fond memories of the good food when it was the Ship Inn. And then always a buzz evening at the Spinnaker and the Lighthouse.
As to the music, the best of the early days was Stewart from Chigago with his bass singer Big Jack, playing to a packed house in the Anchor Bar (now the Spinnaker) . These days Clifden Foyle keeps the music tradition going with live music in the front bar of the Strand every night.
The Classic has endured as a golf competition of great charm and friendliness, much down to the early commercial vision of my long time golfing friend, Charlie Boland, with fond memories of the Candlelight Inn, niw sadly gone. Thanks Charlie B- a great legacy, long may the Classic prosper. Thanks to the Dunmore East Class team and particularly Kim Judge as the main organiser. Let’s keep it going – tell your friends!

We have played in the Dumore east golf classic for many years and it’s been one of the highlights of our social and golf calendars. The courses are fabulous, the food is amazing, Kim is wonderful but above all it’s the company and the people you meet every day and each year that make this a very special event. If you like golf, food and good company then this is for you. I hope we see you next time

I have been coming to the Dunmore East Classic every year since it started. We have brought 3 or 4 teams every year and, to a man, we thoroughly enjoyed the four days golf and five nights in the fabulous Dunmore East Village. We have played the five local courses (four each year rotating) We are always welcomed in each club house by the friendly and accommodating staff. The restaurants in the village provide excellent fare and are particularly enjoyed for their food and entertainment. This year will be my 28th year to play in the Dunmore East Golf Classic and I am really looking forward to April for my upcoming visit. I would have to mention that this Classic could not have survived without the wonderful team under Kim Judge who organise the event like clockwork every year.

Dunmore East Golf Classic is a wonderful experience that we have continued to return to for close to 20 years. Beautiful village, friendly residents and great restaurants like the Strand, the Haven, and Azzuro’s. The competition is fun and challenging over 5 courses that rotate annually. Parkland courses, Tramore, Faithlegg, and a ferry ride to Waterford Castle to a wonderland local links course, Dunmore East. Great experience!!

I have enjoyed the Dunmore East Classic since we “tasted it” in its 2nd year.In the early years we just had one team but many friends have joined us over the years.

We have had great golf and even though recently the weather has been unkind the marvellous golf course of Waterford castle, Faithlegg, Tramore and Waterford City keep bringing us back.
Golf is important but Dunmore East has a welcome and meals from the Foyles of The Strand, the Kelly’s of the Haven, Joan Boland of the Lemon Tree, Niall of the Spinnaker and the Azzurro that are unbeatable
4 games of golf, accommodation and an excellent a la carte meal each night —-not to mention the prizes —-for a price that never ceases to amaze me—You will meet new people and hopefully renew old friendships—The only draw back is you might lose some money to us playing golf
Hope to see you there!
I’ve played in several Dunmore East Classics and brought lots of friends over the years, I must compliment the tremendous organization of the event, it runs like clockwork. The courses are varied and all challenging, especially if the wind/weather is up! The restaurants In Dunmore all offer a Golfers Menu each evening and the food is only fantastic. This is a really great fun event for both serious and social golfers alike.

My Team, “The Wedgewoods” have being taking part in the Dunmore East Golf Classic for the best part of twenty years and we plan to be back this year! and no wonder as it is a wonderful Spring week full of fun and laughter and great opportunity to meet up with old acquaintances and new faces each year and enjoy our golf! We stay in self-catering accommodation owned by our wonderful landlady Winnie Brooke who we have been with for many years.
All of the Golf Courses, Dunmore East, Faithlegg, Tramore, Waterford and Waterford Castle are all splendid and in great condition. This year, however, Dunmore East is not in the loop but make sure, if you can, to dine there as it is a real treat with Chef Billy; and, if you get a chance to play the course either before the Tournament or after, it is delightful with wonderful views. The Pro and staff at each Golf Club are most welcoming and helpful. All restaurants, Azzuro, The Haven, The Lighthouse, The Lemon Tree (also great for breakfast), The Strand and The Spinnaker are all excellent but it would be unfair to single out one as everyone has their own personal favourite.
With Tournament Director Kim Judge at the helm along with her Team you won’t be disappointed! The Dunmore East Golf Classic is worth taking part in, always most enjoyable and the value for money is exceptional!

As a group of Golfers I and some friends from South Wales, have been visiting Dunmore East for their Golf Classic for many years and have always received a superb welcome and great hospitality.
Needless to say we will be continuing to support the Tournament in the future.
